Mayor Don Canada Announces Licensing for Food Trucks in Metropolis

/ WMOK

WMOK spoke with City of Metropolis Mayor Don Canada on Coffee Break Thursday and WMOK is happy to report that provisions have been made for food trucks to visit our city.

In a recent Metropolis City Council meeting, a vendor license was approved that would allow a food truck or similar type vendor to acquire a yearly license at the cost of $25.

This would allow vendors to sell within the city. Mayor Canada advised WMOK that the $25 fee is for protection of everybody that eats out of said food truck, to make sure that everything is sanitary and healthy, and it ensures that the vehicles have insurance, and it requires vendors to show their health license.

For vendors wanting to bring their food trucks to Metropolis, they need to go to the fire department and the fire department will check to make sure the vendors have a fire extinguisher and that the vendor is doing everything they are supposed to do. Vendors then go to the City Clerk’s office in the Metropolis City Hall to pay the vendor license fee.

The $25 vendor license will be good for the length of one year at each renewal allowing the vendor to come in to Metropolis and then they make their own arrangements with the powers that be wherever they’re going to set up for example in the parking lot of one of our businesses.
