(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – When WMOK recently spoke with Metropolis Animal Control and Abatement Officer John Roman as he discussed saving baby Opossums.
Roman advised that around this time of the year, when you see an opossum that has been hit – nine times out of ten, they’re going to have babies with them.
Luckily, the caller who made this call informed dispatch that there were babies who were still alive. John said that he is an animal lover and that he tries to save as many animals as possible. Abatement Officer Roman also knows local community members who will help with things such as caring for babies found, etc.
He also told WMOK a fun fact: Opossums are good to have around! If you happen to see/run over an opossum, please call Animal Control at (618)638-8217 so that they will be informed in case there are babies that can be saved.
