/ WMOK

WMOK spoke with Metropolis Parks and Recreation Director Pris Abell this week regarding the planned opening of the Metropolis City Pool.  The Metropolis City Pool remained closed during the Summer of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. When we followed up with Abell on this week she told WMOK that they have slated the open date of Friday June 11.  Abell reiterates that the City of Metropolis will follow all guidelines issued by the state of Illinois.

The daily rate for the Metropolis City Pool is $1.50 per person.  As in prior seasons, Season Passes will be available.  Passes will be $25.00 for an individual and a family pass is $20.00 per person living under the same roof.

Beginner, intermediate and advanced Swim lessons will start the week of June 21.  The cost will be $25.00 per swimmer.

Water Aerobics will start on Monday June 14th at 5:30 pm. Evening classes will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 and daytime classes are available on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11:00-12:00. The cost is $25.00 for the season.

Pool parties will be available for $100 per hour with a maximum of of 2 hours.  1/2 of that fee is due one week in advance and the balance is due at the party. The cost increased by $25 per hour this year due to the added splash pad which will require an additional lifeguard.

For more information on any pool activities you can call the Metropolis Parks and Recreation Department at 618-524-1696.
